Teens, man charged in violent Peel carjackings

Peel Regional Police have brought charges against three individuals, putting an end to a violent string of carjackings that targeted drivers in Brampton and Mississauga. The accused include two 16-year-old youths and an 18-year-old man from Toronto.

Details of the Violent Incidents

The crime spree began on December 10, 2025, around 8:40 p.m. in Brampton. According to police, a suspect vehicle occupied by masked individuals intentionally struck the rear of a newer-model BMW SUV in the area of Humberwest Parkway and Queen Street East. The victim fled the scene on foot, and the damaged BMW was later found unoccupied.

A second, more confrontational attack occurred on December 13 at approximately 5:20 p.m. in Mississauga. In the area of Eglinton Avenue and Ridgeway Drive, three suspects approached a victim while brandishing a knife. Fearing for his safety, the victim surrendered his vehicle keys. The suspects fled in the stolen car, which was later involved in a collision on Highway 403. The perpetrators were then seen getting into the same vehicle used in the first Brampton carjacking.

Arrests and Charges Laid

The breakthrough came on Monday, December 19, around 5 p.m. Officers spotted the suspect vehicle in Mississauga near Dundas Street West and Winston Churchill Boulevard. The occupants were wearing masks and gloves. With assistance from the K9 and Tactical Units, police moved in and made the arrests.

Tayvien Coley, 18, of Toronto, along with a 16-year-old from Brampton and another 16-year-old from Mississauga, each face multiple charges. These include conspiracy to commit an indictable offence – robbery, wearing a disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Both youths also face additional charges for failing to comply with a release order. Following the arrests, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Mississauga, where they located and seized offence-related property.

Lasting Impacts on the Community

Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich emphasized the seriousness of the crimes. "These were violent crimes which will carry lasting impacts on the victims and our community," Milinovich stated.
