Langley RCMP are actively searching for a suspect involved in a brazen and dangerous incident Wednesday morning, where a driver deliberately rammed a marked police cruiser and narrowly missed striking two officers.
Dangerous Confrontation Near Willowbrook Mall
The event unfolded just after 10:30 a.m. on December 24, 2025, in the 19900 block of Willowbrook Drive, close to Willowbrook Mall. Officers were initially dispatched to the area following a report of a suspicious vehicle.
Upon arrival, two officers located the vehicle and found the driver slumped over the steering wheel. As one officer attempted to rouse the driver, the individual suddenly regained consciousness. In a swift and aggressive move, the driver put the car into gear and intentionally accelerated into the RCMP cruiser, which had its emergency lights activated at the time.
Suspect Flees in Stolen-Plated Audi
Video footage circulating on social media captures the alarming moment. The clip shows a dark Audi pushing the police vehicle backward before speeding away from the scene. An officer is seen scrambling to avoid being struck by the fleeing car.
Subsequent investigation by the Langley RCMP revealed that the licence plates on the Audi were stolen and had been switched onto the vehicle, complicating identification efforts.
Police Condemn 'Unacceptable' Actions
In a news release, Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP strongly condemned the driver's actions. "This was an extremely dangerous situation that put both officers and members of the public at significant risk," Sharoom stated. "The driver’s decision to use a vehicle as a weapon and flee at a high rate of speed is unacceptable, and investigators are actively working to identify and locate those responsible."
The police have assigned the file number 2025-41931 to the case. Investigators are urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or CCTV recordings from the Willowbrook Drive area around the time of the incident to contact the Langley RCMP immediately.
