Toronto Police have launched a renewed public appeal for information as the second anniversary approaches of the mysterious disappearance of a Scarborough man.
Two Years Without a Trace
Taron Stepanyan, 42, was last seen leaving his residence at 20 Chichester Place on the evening of December 23, 2023. The location is northeast of Victoria Park Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East in Scarborough. Despite extensive efforts, his whereabouts remain unknown, and investigators say they are deeply concerned for his safety.
"Anniversaries can prompt renewed attention and reflection, and investigators are hopeful that someone may now come forward with information that could assist the investigation," stated Supt. LeeAnn Papizewski of 42 Division in a release issued on Saturday.
A Renewed Push for Answers
In a concerted effort to generate new leads, officers spent this past Saturday in Stepanyan's neighbourhood. They distributed flyers, spoke with area residents, and set up a mobile command post as part of the intensified search. Police have also released updated images of the missing man in hopes that someone will recognize him.
Supt. Papizewski highlighted the ongoing pain for Stepanyan's family, noting, "This will be Taron’s third Christmas away from his family, and police remain committed to finding answers for them."
