Transit Police Issue Public Safety Alert Following Two Assaults in North Surrey

Metro Vancouver Transit Police have issued a stern warning to the public, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance after two women were sexually assaulted in separate incidents near the Scott Road Skytrain station in North Surrey over the past two weeks. Authorities are actively investigating both cases and seeking assistance from witnesses or anyone with relevant information.

First Incident at Scott Road Park and Ride

The initial assault occurred on January 21 at approximately 4 p.m. in the Scott Road Park and Ride Lot A, which is adjacent to the Scott Road SkyTrain Station. According to police reports, a woman was walking from the SkyTrain to her vehicle, located in the far corner of the parking lot near 110 Avenue and 126A Street, when she was approached from behind by a man who sexually assaulted her. The victim fought back, prompting the suspect to flee toward the station.

Suspect Description from First Assault:

  • Caucasian male, mid-to-late twenties
  • Tall with a medium build
  • Light-colored eyes and a partial brown beard
  • Wearing a blue zip-up hoodie with the hood up, dark blue jeans, and a black toque

Transit Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, has dash-cam footage, or noticed suspicious activity in the Park and Ride area to contact them at (604) 515-8300.

Second Assault on February 6

In a separate incident on February 6 around 4:30 p.m., another young woman was assaulted while walking eastbound on 100th Avenue near 123a Street. She was grabbed from behind by a man but managed to break free, after which the suspect fled southbound on 123a Street. Surrey Police have released a photo of a person of interest in connection with this case.

Suspect Description from Second Assault:

  • Adult male, possibly Caucasian or Middle Eastern
  • Approximately 5-foot-10 tall
  • Wearing black sweatpants, black and white shoes, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black and grey checkered jacket

Surrey Police Sergeant Lindsey Houghton stated, "There is no indication that the two incidents are connected. Our analysts, however, will be looking at other cases in the region to see if there may be any similarities and, if there are, detectives will reach out to the respective agency."
