Ottawa's dedicated Street Crime Unit has made another significant dent in local drug operations, resulting in criminal charges against two city residents following a targeted investigation.
The enforcement action unfolded on Tuesday when police executed a search warrant at a residence near Kirkwood Avenue and Byron Avenue in the city's west end. The operation yielded what authorities describe as a "quantity of cocaine" along with Canadian currency suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Charges Laid Against Two Ottawa Residents
Following the search, police have charged 36-year-old Michael Plummer and 33-year-old Sarah Plummer with multiple drug-related offences. Both individuals now face charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Michael Plummer faces additional charges including possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. The failure to comply charges suggest the accused was already under court-ordered conditions at the time of the alleged offences.
Ongoing Battle Against Street-Level Crime
The Ottawa Police Street Crime Unit focuses specifically on combating street-level criminal activity throughout the city. This latest bust demonstrates the unit's continued efforts to disrupt drug trafficking operations that impact community safety and wellbeing.
Both accused were scheduled to appear in court following their arrest, though specific details regarding their court dates and proceedings remain part of the ongoing judicial process.
Police have not released additional information about the quantity of drugs seized or the exact amount of money confiscated, indicating the investigation may be continuing with potential for further developments.
