Ottawa Police Arrest Two Suspects Following String of Car Thefts and Home Invasions

Ottawa police have arrested two suspects following a series of violent incidents that unfolded across the city on March 14, involving multiple car thefts and home invasions. The suspects, identified as one male and one female, are alleged to have stolen three vehicles and broken into several residences during the spree.

Sequence of Events on March 14

The incidents began at approximately 8:34 a.m. when police responded to a carjacking in the 200 block of West Hunt Club Road. According to authorities, the two suspects confronted a driver while armed with a knife and subsequently stole their vehicle.

Following this initial theft, the suspects proceeded to the city's west end, where they broke into a home. Police reported that the suspects confronted the homeowner, stole their keys, and fled the scene in a second stolen vehicle.

Escalation and Additional Thefts

The suspects then traveled to the city's east end, where they were involved in a vehicle crash. When a passing driver stopped to offer assistance, the suspects allegedly took advantage of the situation by stealing that individual's vehicle, marking the third stolen vehicle connected to the incident.

After acquiring the third vehicle, the suspects returned to the west end of Ottawa, where they broke into a second residence. During this home invasion, police stated that the suspects became involved in a physical altercation with the homeowner, who sustained minor injuries as a result.

Arrests and Investigation

Following the altercation at the second home, the male suspect fled the scene on foot while the female suspect remained at the residence, where she was subsequently arrested by responding officers. Police later located the male suspect in the surrounding area and took him into custody as well.

The Ottawa Police Service's robbery unit has taken over the investigation, and charges against both suspects are pending. Authorities have not released the names of the suspects at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing as police work to gather additional evidence and information related to the series of incidents.

This string of violent crimes has raised concerns among Ottawa residents about safety and property security. Police are urging anyone with additional information about the incidents to come forward as they continue their investigation into the matter.
