A food delivery driver in Ottawa is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after a harrowing carjacking incident on Monday evening, during which he was dragged a considerable distance by his own vehicle.
Violent Confrontation on Besserer Street
The incident occurred in the 100 block of Besserer Street at approximately 9:37 p.m. on December 29, 2025. According to Ottawa police, the victim was in the process of making a delivery when an individual entered his vehicle in an attempt to steal it.
The driver bravely attempted to intervene and stop the thief, holding onto the car. Despite his efforts, the suspect drove off with the victim still clinging to the vehicle. The delivery driver was dragged down Besserer Street for a considerable distance before he was dislodged.
Swift Police Investigation Leads to Arrest
Emergency services transported the injured driver to a local hospital. Police confirmed his injuries, while serious, were not life-threatening.
The investigation moved quickly. The stolen vehicle was later located, abandoned, near Cornwall, Ontario. Shortly after this discovery, officers located and apprehended a suspect near the U.S. border.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested and now faces multiple criminal charges, including:

- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
