A 44-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed inside an apartment located in Montreal's Mile-End neighbourhood early on Saturday morning, November 8, 2025.

Police Response and Arrest

According to Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant, authorities received a 911 call shortly after 9 a.m. about a violent incident occurring in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough. Officers rushed to a residence on Esplanade Ave., near Bernard St., where they discovered the victim suffering from injuries to his upper and lower body caused by a sharp object.

The man was conscious when emergency services transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police are currently awaiting a medical update on his condition.

Investigation Underway

Police swiftly located and arrested a suspect near the scene of the crime. The individual, a 22-year-old man, was transported to a detention centre and is scheduled to be questioned by investigators to determine the extent of his involvement.

Initial accounts from witnesses suggest the stabbing was the result of a conflict that escalated inside the apartment on Esplanade Avenue.
