SURREY, B.C. – A man was found shot to death outside a property in a rural part of Surrey on Tuesday, prompting a major police investigation.
Police Respond to Noon-Time Shooting
According to Surrey Police Service spokesperson Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, officers were called to the 3800-block of 176 Street, near the Pacific Highway, just before noon on January 13, 2026. The location is situated south of the Cloverdale area.
Houghton confirmed that the victim, whose identity has not been released, was found deceased outside the property. "The victim was deceased at the scene and was laying outside," Houghton stated.
Homicide Unit Takes Over Investigation
Given the violent nature of the death, the case has been transferred to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT). The specialized unit is now leading the probe into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Authorities have not released any information about potential suspects or a motive. The investigation is in its early stages, and police are likely canvassing the area for witnesses and evidence.
No Connection to Recent Gang-Related Death
A source within Postmedia has indicated that this fatal shooting is not connected to the death of Brothers Keepers gangster Naseem Ali Mohammed, which occurred the previous day, Monday, January 12.
Mohammed, who was known by the nickname 'Lil Man,' is believed to have been shot before a house fire was set at a residence on 56th Avenue in Surrey. That incident is being investigated separately.
The Surrey shooting underscores ongoing concerns about violence in the region. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is urging anyone with information about Tuesday's incident to come forward.
