Police Respond to Emergency Call

Montreal police received a 911 call shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, reporting an injured man near the intersection of Victoria and Bourret Avenues. Police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils confirmed the details of the emergency response.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered the victim conscious but suffering from a wound to his lower body caused by a sharp object. "He was transported to a hospital for an injury that was not life-threatening," Chèvrefils stated in her official remarks.

Investigation Underway with No Arrests Made

As of late Friday night, no arrests had been made in connection with the stabbing incident. The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, prompting an extensive police investigation.

Law enforcement established a security perimeter around the scene to facilitate examination by investigators and forensic identification technicians. A canine unit was also deployed to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Police indicated they would be canvassing the area for surveillance cameras that might have captured footage of the incident. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the events leading up to the stabbing.
