A pedestrian is in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by an SUV that left the roadway in Ottawa's Centretown neighborhood on Friday afternoon.

Details of the Incident

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Laurier Avenue and O'Connor Street at approximately 4:20 p.m. after reports that an SUV had mounted the sidewalk and collided with a building.

The male pedestrian, believed to be in his 20s, was on the sidewalk at the time of the crash. He sustained multi-system trauma and was transported to The Ottawa Hospital's trauma centre in serious condition, according to paramedics.

Three individuals inside the SUV were assessed for injuries at the scene and subsequently released without further medical attention.
