Hamilton police have laid charges against a 16-year-old male in connection with a violent assault that authorities are investigating as a hate-motivated crime targeting the LGBTQ2S+ community.
The disturbing incident unfolded on the evening of August 24th near the intersection of George and Caroline Streets, adjacent to the popular Hess Village entertainment district. According to investigators, the attack involved multiple victims who were specifically targeted because of their sexual orientation.
Violent Confrontation Captures Community Attention
Police responded to the area around 11:30 p.m. following reports of an assault in progress. Witnesses described a chaotic scene where several individuals were physically attacked in what appears to be a premeditated hate crime.
The teenage suspect, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, now faces serious charges including:
