Hamilton police have arrested and charged a 24-year-old man with sexual assault and child luring, alleging he used social media to contact minors. The investigation by the police Sex Crimes Unit led to the arrest on Friday.
Charges and Allegations
Joshua King McRea faces charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, and luring a child under the age of 16. Police did not specify which social media platforms were used. The accused is described as Black, approximately 5-foot-8 tall, weighing 132 pounds, with a thin build and black hair.
According to police, the alleged incidents occurred between 2024 and 2026. Investigators believe there may be additional victims and urge anyone with information to come forward.
Police Appeal for Victims
“Police recognize that some individuals may not realize they have been the victim of a criminal offence,” police said in a statement. “Anyone who had online contact with the accused while under the age of consent, including those who shared images or communicated with him, is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Police Service Sex Crimes Unit.”
