Man Charged in Human Trafficking Case
A 31-year-old man from East Gwillimbury has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged human trafficking investigation. The charges come after a victim reported being sexually assaulted, trafficked, and exploited in October 2025.
York Regional Police announced the arrest on Wednesday, following a months-long investigation. The accused, whose name has not been released, faces multiple charges including human trafficking, sexual assault, and forcible confinement.
Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to support the victim through specialized services.
Human trafficking remains a serious concern in the region, with law enforcement agencies collaborating to combat the crime. The accused is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
