Toronto Police have launched a public search for a driver and vehicle following a disturbing incident where a child was offered a ride home in the Weston neighbourhood. The event has heightened community concerns about child safety.
Details of the Weston Incident
The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, around 3 p.m. A child was walking home from school in the area of Church Street and Grattan Street, near Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West. According to police, an unknown male driving a sedan stopped, exited his vehicle, and asked the child if they wanted a ride home.
The child wisely declined the offer, at which point the man returned to his car and drove away. The vehicle is described as a blue, older model (possibly 2007-2008) Volkswagen Passat with no front license plate.
Investigators describe the person of interest as a brown man, approximately 5-foot-9, 150 pounds, with a slim build, short black hair, and clean-shaven. Anyone with information is urged to contact Toronto Police at 416-808-1200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
Separate Child Exploitation Charge in Mississauga
In a separate case, a 40-year-old Mississauga man is facing serious charges following a child sexual exploitation investigation. Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant at a residence in Mississauga on Sunday, seizing several electronic devices.
As a result, Vineeth Vimal, 40, has been charged with two counts each of luring a person under 16 years of age and making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.
Hamilton Police Investigate Serious Assaults
Hamilton Police have been active with two significant investigations. In one case, Gregory Izundu, 25, is charged with one count each of sexual assault and forcible confinement for an incident alleged to have occurred in November 2025. Police believe he was living in a downtown residence at the time and may have targeted vulnerable individuals. They are concerned there could be other victims.
In a second, hate-motivated investigation, Hamilton Police have arrested two men, aged 21 and 23, for a vicious assault on a member of the transgender community. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on October 25, 2025, on Hess Street South.
After obtaining video evidence and conducting an investigation through the Hate Crime Unit, the two Hamilton men were arrested on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. Police believe additional individuals may have been involved in this suspected hate-motivated crime and are seeking further information.
