Brooks Resident Charged with Human Trafficking Following RCMP Investigation

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Brooks, Alberta, have formally charged a local man with human trafficking and related offences, with authorities expressing concern that additional victims may exist.

Investigation Details and Charges

According to Brooks RCMP, the investigation began in February 2025 after a female victim reported being in a relationship with a man who allegedly forced her into multiple sexual encounters with strangers for financial gain. The case involved coordinated efforts between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the RCMP human trafficking coordinator, the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team's human trafficking unit, and the Alberta RCMP interview assistance team.

On March 25, 2025, police executed a search warrant at a Brooks residence, seizing electronic devices, illegal substances, and related paraphernalia as part of their evidence collection.

Arrest and Court Proceedings

The investigation culminated in the arrest of Brooks resident Chad Jensen, 46, on January 8, 2026. Jensen faces multiple charges including:

  • Human trafficking
  • Two counts of sexual assault
  • Additional related offences

Although Jensen has been released from custody, he is scheduled to appear in Brooks Provincial Court on February 11, 2026, for his next court date.

RCMP Concern About Additional Victims

In a Tuesday statement, Brooks RCMP expressed serious concern that Chad Jensen may have additional victims who have not yet come forward. Staff Sergeant Rob Harms, detachment commander for Brooks RCMP, emphasized the gravity of such offences.

"Human trafficking and related offences such as this are serious in nature and always have lasting negative impacts on involved victims and the community," Harms stated.

RCMP specifically urged any potential victims to contact authorities, assuring them that support resources are available to assist those who come forward.
