Bowmanville man accused of luring 12-year-old girl

Durham Regional Police have arrested and charged a 30-year-old Bowmanville man following a disturbing online child luring investigation.

Investigation Leads to Arrest

The police's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit launched its probe in late May 2025. Investigators focused on a man who was allegedly communicating with a 12-year-old girl through online platforms.

The suspect is accused of sending sexually explicit messages and sharing sexually explicit material with the young victim, according to a police statement issued on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Charges Laid Against Taylor Comeau

After identifying a suspect, ICE Unit members executed a search warrant at a residence in Bowmanville on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The arrest was made without incident.

The accused, Taylor Comeau, 30, of Bowmanville, now faces a series of serious charges. These include luring a person under 18 for the purpose of making child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and luring a person under 16 to facilitate sexual assault and sexual interference. He is also charged with making sexually explicit material available to a minor.

Comeau was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Police Fear There May Be Other Victims

Investigators have taken the unusual step of publicly releasing an image of the accused due to significant concerns that there may be other alleged victims who have not yet come forward.

Police allege that Comeau was operating on social media platforms under the username "sinister.illustrations." on both TikTok and Instagram.

The Durham Regional Police Service extended its gratitude to several international agencies for their assistance, including Homeland Security Investigations, the United States Army Criminal Investigations Division, and the El Paso Police Department.
