An Alberta Correctional Services probation officer has been charged with breach of trust and unauthorized use of a computer following a five-month investigation by the Calgary Police Service (CPS) sensitive investigations unit.

Investigation and charges

According to CPS, the allegations came to light on Jan. 22, 2026. During the investigation, officers identified a woman who allegedly used her position as a probation officer to obtain confidential information without authorization. A search warrant was executed on April 30, 2026, leading to the seizure of electronic devices. After forensic examination, police determined that unauthorized data had been accessed.

Navjot Dhillon, 25, was charged with one count of breach of trust and one count of unauthorized use of a computer on Wednesday. She is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 19, 2026.

Police statement on misconduct

Insp. Nicole Barrett of the Calgary Police Service Professional Standards Section stated in a media release: “Maintaining public trust requires that allegations of misconduct are thoroughly investigated. We are committed to protecting sensitive information and ensuring individuals who abuse positions of trust are held accountable.”
