A construction worker has died after falling from a garage roof in Toronto's west end, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near the intersection of Keele Street and Eglinton Avenue West around 10:30 a.m. on May 19, 2026. The worker was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Ministry of Labour has been notified and is investigating the incident. The worker's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Safety Concerns Raised
This incident has raised concerns about workplace safety in the construction industry. According to the Ontario Ministry of Labour, falls from heights are one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities in the province.
"This is a tragic reminder of the importance of proper safety measures," said a spokesperson for the Toronto Construction Association. "Employers must ensure that all workers have adequate fall protection and training."
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them. The investigation is ongoing.
