Windsor Police K9 Tracks Down Break-In Suspect at Construction Site

Windsor Police arrested a break-in suspect early Tuesday morning after a K9 unit tracked him down at a construction site. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when officers responded to a report of a break-in at a construction site in the 200 block of Ouellette Avenue.

Upon arrival, police observed a suspect fleeing on foot. The Windsor Police K9 unit was deployed and quickly located the suspect hiding in a nearby construction trailer. The suspect, a 34-year-old Windsor man, was taken into custody without incident.

Details of the Incident

Police say the suspect allegedly broke into the construction site and stole several tools. The value of the stolen items has not yet been determined. The suspect faces charges of break and enter and theft.

“The quick response and use of the K9 unit were instrumental in apprehending the suspect,” said Constable Steve Betteridge, Windsor Police spokesperson. “This is a great example of how our K9 unit helps keep our community safe.”
