Western Civilization Under Siege in Canada, Activist Warns

Canada is grappling with debates over national identity, security, and international trade. Ottawa is navigating U.S. tariffs and Donald Trump’s threats of higher trade duties ahead of the July review of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement, while also managing populist and separatist movements, hate crimes, and broader pressures on national cohesion.

Interview with Dimpee Brar

To gauge how these pressures are reshaping Canada’s identity and policy choices, the National Post sat down with Dimpee Brar, director of engagement for Allies for a Strong Canada, to discuss Western traditions, the Canadian identity, national security, trade, and domestic politics.

Inspiration Behind Allies for a Strong Canada

Dimpee Brar explained that the organization was created after October 7, 2023, with the belief that those marching through streets were the same people who had infiltrated institutions, bureaucracies, and halls of power. She stated that enemies of the Jewish people are enemies of Western civilization, which comprises two roots: Athens (philosophy, reason) and Jerusalem (revelation, God).

Brar emphasized that antisemitism alone is not enough to motivate action. When people understand that the issue is not just Jewish but a matter of Western civilization, Canadians and others in the Western world recognize that the prosperity and security of Jewish people are integral to all Canadians.

Evolution of the Movement

The organization has grown to 30,000 activists and aims to create a lasting movement rather than a temporary campaign. Brar described it as a "Tea Party movement" focused on grassroots activism. One successful campaign pushed for the expulsion of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officials from Canada, leading to parliamentary action. A similar campaign is now targeting the Chinese Communist Party.

Brar noted that China’s interest in Canada is primarily due to Canada’s ties to the United States. The group’s focus remains on shared threats to the security and sovereignty of the Western world and Canada, affecting all Canadians, Jewish or not.
