MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace delivered a scathing assessment of Donald Trump’s performance at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, on Wednesday. The “Deadline: White House” host said that “in a series of bizarre press conferences, Donald Trump ran the gamut of sounding merely uninformed to downright addled and crazy.”
Lowlights Reel of Trump’s Remarks
Wallace aired a lowlights reel of Trump’s most eyebrow-raising moments, including him claiming the peace deal with Iran is over, calling Iran’s leadership “scum,” referring to the “Islamic Republic of Japan,” attacking NATO ally Spain, boasting about being big on “Tik Tak,” and mistakenly referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy — who was sitting beside him — as Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Wallace’s Reaction and Call for Translation
After the montage, Wallace paused for several seconds before remarking: “He’s not sitting next to President Putin, I don’t know what Tik Tak is, the Islamic Republic of Japan came out of his mouth.” She then suggested Secretary of State Marco Rubio “is going to have to start standing next to him and translating.”
Impact on European Leaders
Wallace concluded: “But unsurprisingly, Donald Trump’s incomprehensible, unhinged, embarrassing, uninformed, ‘me, me, me’ display there in his approach to geopolitics has had an effect. It appears to have finally exasperated and exhausted European leaders’ patience.”
