Two Men Arrested After Walkerville Vehicle Thefts

Two men have been arrested following a string of vehicle thefts in Walkerville that culminated in a collision and a brief foot chase through a nearby park, according to Windsor police.

Incident Details

The incidents occurred overnight on May 21 and 22, when two suspects allegedly stole multiple vehicles in the Walkerville area. Police reported that two motorcycles were taken from the backyard of a home in the 1100 block of Moy Avenue, and an SUV was stolen from behind a residence in the 1100 block of Windermere Road.

Later that morning, the suspects were driving the stolen SUV when it collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Seminole Street and Central Avenue. Following the crash, the suspects fled on foot through a nearby park. Police noted that one of the men breached a prohibition order that barred him from attending public parks.

Arrests Made

Members of the problem-oriented policing unit located one suspect on May 26 in a vehicle near Howard Avenue and Eugenie Street East. A traffic stop was conducted, and the man was arrested without incident. Later that day, the second suspect voluntarily surrendered at police headquarters.

A 32-year-old man faces charges including three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, breach of order of sexual offence conviction, and breach of probation.

A 40-year-old man is charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to stop after an accident.
