Trump to Present World Cup Final Trophy with Infantino

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump will present the World Cup final trophy alongside him on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium. Infantino made the statement during an appearance on the “Fox and Friends” television programme.

Infantino Confirms Joint Trophy Presentation

“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said. FIFA declined to comment beyond Infantino’s televised remarks.

The global soccer boss has cultivated a close relationship with Trump, awarding him the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize in December. Trump has sought out sports mega-events, previously presenting the trophy to Chelsea after the Club World Cup final last year at the same East Rutherford, New Jersey, stadium. During that event, he was met with boos and cheers and stood in the middle of the team during their trophy lift, causing confusion among some players.
