President Donald Trump boldly claimed Saturday that he answered all questions correctly on his cognitive test amid ongoing concerns about his mental sharpness. “Unlike other U.S. Presidents, none of whom have ever taken an approved, high difficulty, Cognitive Test, I scored a perfect 30 out of 30, considered ‘extreme intelligence,’” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
In typical fashion, Trump fired off at Democrats. “Are the Dumocrats really surprised? In fact, this is my fourth such test, all PERFECT or, 120 correct answers out of 120 questions asked! It is very rare that anyone gets a Perfect Score, especially when achieved four times in a row. All people running for President and Vice President should be forced to take high difficulty Cognitive Tests. Congress, and the Dumocrats, should demand it!”
Trump took his latest cognitive test on May 26 as part of his annual medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) that he took during his visit is used by doctors to identify signs of cognitive decline and dementia. Despite Trump alleging that his score indicates “extreme intelligence,” medical experts have said the MoCA does not test for IQ.
Trump’s visit marked his third scheduled medical appointment at Walter Reed in 13 months, ABC News reports. On Friday, the White House released a memo recapping the results of Trump’s medical examination, noting that Trump’s “cognitive function” was assessed with the MoCA and found to be “within normal limits” with a perfect score.
However, CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner challenged Trump’s results on Friday, telling CNN’s Abby Phillip that the test is “not really that useful when you take it over and over and over again, because the questions don’t change that much.” “Once you’ve taken it now four times, it’s probably not that difficult to pretty easily get through it. It shouldn’t be hard to get through it anyway, because it’s a dementia screening test, it’s not an IQ test,” he added. Reiner also questioned in a Saturday X post why the president was given another exam so soon when he’s had three in the recent past.
