The victim in a fatal house fire in Plantagenet on May 22 has been identified as a 64-year-old woman, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). In a news release issued on Wednesday, May 27, authorities confirmed that no foul play is suspected in connection with the fire or the woman's death.

The Hawkesbury OPP detachment crime unit, in collaboration with the provincial coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and the Office of the Fire Marshal, launched an investigation immediately after the fire was reported. Following a thorough examination, police stated in the May 27 release that they do not suspect foul play related to the incident.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on May 22, officers responded to a report of a residential fire on Water Street in Plantagenet. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered the woman's body inside the home. The OPP have not released her name pending notification of next of kin.
Plantagenet is a small town located roughly 60 kilometres east of Ottawa. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities have indicated that there are no indications of criminal activity.
