One person is dead following a shooting at a downtown Hamilton mall on Friday afternoon, according to police.
Shooting at Jackson Square
Hamilton Police responded to reports of a shooting at Jackson Square in the late afternoon. Initially, officers stated that a male victim had been taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, police later updated the public, confirming that the victim had died from his injuries.
In a statement on social media, Hamilton Police said, “Hamilton Police can confirm the shooting victim has succumbed to his injuries.”
Suspects Description
Police reported that two suspects were seen fleeing the scene, heading east toward James Street. The suspects are described as white males, approximately 19 to 20 years old. One suspect was wearing a grey tracksuit, while the other was wearing a blue tracksuit. Authorities believe both suspects were carrying firearms and have urged the public not to approach them but to call 911 immediately if they are spotted.
