Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported no injuries following a structure fire near Woodstock on Saturday morning. The blaze, which broke out in a building located just outside the town, prompted a response from multiple fire departments and emergency services.
Incident Details
The fire was first reported at approximately 9:30 AM EDT on April 26, 2026. Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and worked to contain the flames, preventing them from spreading to nearby structures. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but officials have stated that there is no indication of foul play.
Traffic Impact
As a result of the fire, nearby roads, including sections of Highway 401, experienced temporary closures to allow emergency vehicles to access the area. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes until the situation was resolved. By late morning, all lanes were reopened, and traffic returned to normal.
OPP spokesperson Constable Sarah Johnson confirmed that no civilians or first responders were injured during the incident. “We are grateful that everyone is safe,” Johnson said. “Our thoughts are with the property owners, and we will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.”
Community Response
Local residents expressed relief that no one was hurt. “It’s always scary to see a fire so close to home,” said Woodstock resident Mark Thompson. “But the firefighters did an amazing job getting it under control quickly.”
The OPP is urging anyone with information about the fire to contact their non-emergency line or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
