New evidence collected in the homicide investigation of Madisson Cobb has led to additional firearms trafficking charges against a woman accused of organizing the sale of the weapon used in the fatal shooting.
Background of the Case
On July 19, 2025, 23-year-old Madisson Cobb was shot and killed in a parkade at the Shops at Heritage, located at 8335 Macleod Trail S.E., near her workplace. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Two days later, her ex-boyfriend, Devon Malik, 27, was charged with first-degree murder.
Recovery of the Firearm
Shortly after Malik's arrest, police recovered the firearm used in Cobb's death and discovered that its serial number had been defaced. This prompted a separate investigation by the Firearms Investigation Team.
On February 3, 2026, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2700 block of 16 Avenue S.W. The search resulted in the seizure of seven firearms, including one with an altered serial number, multiple air guns, and various ammunition.
Gordon Kesh Cameron, 44, was arrested and charged with two counts of firearms trafficking, two counts of failing to report a firearm lost or stolen, and one count of possession of prohibited devices.
New Charges
The investigation continued, and investigators identified a woman who is alleged to have organized the sale of the firearm that Malik used in Cobb's death, according to a police news release. On June 9, Calgarian Reanna Mader, 38, was arrested and charged with one count of firearms trafficking. She has been released and is scheduled to appear in court on July 9.
Police Statement
Staff Sgt. Mike Shute of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit stated, "Madisson's death was senseless. Our investigators have worked tirelessly to pursue every lead in this case, committed to seeking justice for Madisson and her family." He added, "This investigation demonstrates that we will thoroughly investigate anyone who plays a role in gun violence in Calgary, regardless of who pulled the trigger."
