For the fourth consecutive day, Toronto Police and members of the Jewish community have mobilized officers and volunteers in an effort to locate a 14-year-old girl who went missing on Friday night. The girl, identified as Esther, was last seen in the vicinity of Earl Bales Park on Bathurst Street, just south of Sheppard Avenue West, at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Police Utilize Drones and Marine Unit
Duty Inspector Scott Bradbury stated that officers have been scouring the area, deploying drones equipped with heat-sensing capabilities to search for heat signatures. Additionally, the Marine Unit has been activated to assist in the search. Authorities have released grainy security photographs that suggest Esther may not have been wearing shoes at the time of her disappearance, though this has not been confirmed.
Community Efforts Intensify
The Jewish community, along with organizations such as Shomrim Toronto, Hatzoloh, and Matzil Search and Rescue from the United States, are collaborating with law enforcement. Shomrim Toronto continues to lead and coordinate search efforts, urging anyone who spots Esther not to approach her but to call 911 and Shomrim immediately.
In a social media post, UJA Federation described Esther as 5 feet 2 inches tall, with a medium build and brown hair. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain a mystery, and police have not suggested any foul play at this time.
Appeal for Public Assistance
Inspector Bradbury implored the community and neighbours near Earl Bales Park to review video cameras, check coffee shops, and be on the lookout for a young person who may be asking for food, money, help, or directions. Anyone with information is asked to contact Toronto Police at 416-808-3200, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or at 222tips.com.
The goal on this Victoria Day is to find Esther and return her safely to her family.
