Man Seriously Injured in Surrey Police Shooting

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being shot by police on Wednesday in Surrey. The incident occurred when officers from the Surrey RCMP unit responded to a report of a distressed man who had left a home with an edged weapon.

Details of the Incident

Police responded to the 14100-block of Melrose Drive following the report. At 8:02 p.m., they located the man near 111A Avenue and Wallace Drive. According to the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIOBC), there was an interaction that resulted in a conducted energy weapon (Taser) deployment and shots being fired by police.

Investigation Underway
