Man dies after Mill Woods parking lot confrontation

Edmonton police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old man following a dispute in a parking lot in the city's southeast. The incident occurred on May 28 at the intersection of Mill Woods Road and 28 Avenue, according to a police news release issued Tuesday.

Police stated that the victim approached a vehicle in the parking lot, and during a confrontation, the driver attempted to leave. In doing so, the motorist inadvertently struck the pedestrian. When officers arrived, the victim was still alive but was later pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

The Major Collision Investigations Section is handling the case. Investigators do not believe that speed or alcohol played a role in the collision. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.
