Police are investigating after human remains were found along a Langley river this weekend. The discovery was made on Sunday when a member of the public was walking along the creek bed of the Nicomekl River, near 53A Avenue and 206 Street in Langley, and came across what appeared to be human remains.
Authorities Respond to Discovery
Upon arrival, officers from the Langley RCMP secured the area and summoned the B.C. Coroners Service to confirm that the remains were indeed human. Const. Meghan Marsden stated that the remains have not yet been identified due to prolonged exposure to weather conditions and the river environment.
Investigation Underway
“Our investigators are working in close partnership with the B.C. Coroners Service to determine the circumstances surrounding the death,” Marsden said. Langley RCMP have remained on site for the past two days, while RCMP divers have been combing the riverbed for any items or additional remains that may provide clues.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the remains to contact investigators at 604-532-3200 and mention file number 2026-15130. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
