Ottawa Fire Services responded to multiple 911 calls at approximately 4:46 p.m. on Wednesday after callers reported flames visible through the roof of a single-family home in the 6000 block of Castle Pines Way. One firefighter suffered a minor injury while crews worked to contain the blaze.
Response and Damage
Upon arrival in the Orléans-South-Navan ward, firefighters confirmed that flames were shooting through the roof and that neighboring homes were potentially exposed. A second alarm was immediately called to bring additional resources to the scene. The siding on a nearby home was reported to be melting due to the intense heat.
The fire was declared under control at 6:42 p.m., nearly two hours after the initial calls. Firefighters completed two full searches of the home and confirmed that no occupants were inside at the time of the fire.
Investigation Ongoing
A fire services investigator was dispatched to determine the cause and origin of the blaze. The injured firefighter's condition was not specified, but the injury was described as minor. Ottawa Fire Services urged residents to ensure working smoke alarms and to practice fire safety at home.
