Michael Fanone, the former Metropolitan Police officer who was brutally assaulted during the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, has issued a stark warning about Donald Trump's escalating behaviour. In a detailed interview for Mediate reporter Tommy Christopher's Substack publication, Fanone predicted a turbulent political future and a luxurious exile for the former president.
A Prediction of Political Reckoning and Retribution
Fanone, who suffered a heart attack and a traumatic brain injury after being tased and beaten by Trump supporters, provided a grim forecast for the post-2024 election landscape. He argued that if free and fair elections occur, the chances of Trump avoiding a severe political reckoning are minimal. "The likelihood, if there are free and fair elections in 2024, of Donald Trump not being impeached or at least investigated and having his administration investigated into oblivion, are slim to none," Fanone stated.
He believes the former president is acutely aware of this potential outcome, which is driving increasingly aggressive tactics. "He's starting to feel the pressure," Fanone observed, noting that Trump is beginning to "lash out in ways that are incredibly dangerous." The ex-officer fears this behaviour is on a worsening trajectory, suggesting it is "only going to get worse from here."
"Doesn't Give a Shit Who He Destroys"
Fanone offered a scathing critique of Trump's motivations, framing them as purely self-interested and detached from the welfare of his own supporters. He pointed out that many in the MAGA movement are negatively impacted by Trump's policies, yet his focus remains elsewhere.
"He doesn't give a shit who he destroys, as long as he stays out of jail, he gets his retribution and he makes billions of dollars off of crypto," Fanone asserted. This comment underscores a central theme of his warning: that Trump's actions are fueled by a desire for personal survival, vengeance, and financial gain, with little regard for collateral damage.
The Final Act: A Vision of Exile in Saudi Arabia
Looking beyond the immediate political fray, Fanone painted a vivid picture of Trump's ultimate exit strategy. He envisions the former president fleeing legal and political consequences by seeking refuge in a nation with no extradition treaty with the United States.
"I foresee he'll be hopping on that Qatari jet to Saudi Arabia," Fanone predicted, "and living out the remainder of his days in some guest house of the Saudi prince." This vision of a luxurious exile stands in stark contrast to the potential domestic turmoil Fanone warns Trump is inciting.
The interview, conducted by Tommy Christopher, presents a perspective deeply informed by personal trauma and a close view of the events of January 6. Fanone's warnings highlight the ongoing deep divisions in American politics and the high-stakes legal and electoral battles that lie ahead, with implications that resonate beyond U.S. borders.
