Sherrod Brown Leads Jon Husted in Ohio Senate Race, Fox News Poll Shows
Brown Leads Husted in Ohio Senate Race: Poll

A new Fox News poll released Wednesday reveals that Democratic nominee Sherrod Brown holds a lead over Republican incumbent Jon Husted in the Ohio Senate race. The survey, conducted from May 28 to June 1 among 1,015 registered Ohio voters, shows 53% support for Brown compared to 45% for Husted if the election were held today.

Brown's Comeback Bid

Brown, a former three-term U.S. senator, is seeking to return to Congress after losing to Bernie Moreno in a closely watched 2024 race. The Democratic candidate is leveraging his name recognition and voters' potential remorse to unseat Husted, who was appointed by Governor Mike DeWine in 2025 to fill JD Vance's Senate seat when Vance resigned to become vice president.

Trump's Waning Approval in Ohio

The poll also indicates declining approval for President Donald Trump in Ohio, a state he won by over 11 points in 2024. Only 42% of voters hold a favorable view of Trump, while 57% view him unfavorably. Additionally, 46% of voters believe Husted is too closely aligned with Trump.

Ohio remains a battleground state, and the November Senate special election could determine control of the Senate. The winner will serve the remaining two years of Vance's term and face reelection in 2028.

Top Issues for Voters

Inflation and high prices are the most important issue for 43% of Ohioans, followed by healthcare (12%) and immigration and border security (11%). These priorities are shaping voter decisions in the Senate race.

Gubernatorial Race Tight

In the governor's race, Ohio voters are more divided. Democrat Amy Acton, a physician and former Ohio Department of Health director, leads with 50% support, while Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate, has 49%.
