A 17-year-old driver from Barrie has been charged following a collision that sent a senior pedestrian to hospital with serious injuries. The incident occurred on July 6, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Country Lane at Dean Avenue in Barrie.
Details of the Collision
According to Barrie Police, the teen was operating a vehicle when it struck a 72-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the street. The senior was rushed to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The accused, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm under the Highway Traffic Act. The teen is scheduled to appear in youth court at a later date.
Police Investigation and Appeal
