Grande Prairie RCMP have charged a 29-year-old man with second-degree murder in connection with the suspicious death of Cheyenne Omeasoo, whose body was found in her Mountview Manor apartment in August 2020. The arrest comes after a six-year investigation that included a public appeal for information about gunshots and suspicious activity in the area.

Details of the Incident

Omeasoo, 23, died sometime between 8 p.m. on Aug. 11, 2020, and 1 a.m. the next day at her residence in the Mountview Manor complex on Grande Prairie's northeast side. Police initially sought dashcam footage, security video, and witness accounts from anyone who heard gunshots or observed unusual behavior during that window.

Amadeus Laforce, a resident of Mackenzie County, was arrested on July 3 and formally charged with second-degree murder. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie court on Monday to answer to the charges.
