Jordan Sangwin, 46, wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for the first-degree murder of his parents, was spotted on surveillance camera in the High Park area of Toronto around 11 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026. Peel Regional Police released the image late Tuesday, warning the public not to approach him as he is considered armed and dangerous.
Details of the Sighting
The sighting ended a three-day silence after Sangwin vanished following the alleged murder of his parents, Carol Sangwin, 70, and Garwood Sangwin, 71, at their family home on Briarwood Ave. in Mississauga on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The victims died from blunt force trauma. Surveillance video from Port Credit captured Sangwin shortly after the incident, but then he disappeared until Monday night.
In the new footage, Sangwin is seen walking briskly and with purpose near High Park. Police believe he is traveling on foot and may be hiding in wooded areas or difficult-to-access nooks in the area. The suspect is described as having a medium build, short salt-and-pepper hair, clean-shaven, and wearing a grey long-sleeve shirt, dark shorts, and carrying a black duffle bag.
Police Warnings and Public Safety
Peel police emphasized in a tweet that Sangwin is wanted for first-degree murder following a double homicide and should be considered armed and dangerous. They urge anyone who spots him to call 911 immediately. It is also a crime to harbor a fugitive wanted for murder, police reminded.
Victims Remembered
Friends and family are mourning the loss of the Sangwins. A GoFundMe page set up by family friend Christina Comfort describes Carol and Gary as beloved parents, grandparents, and community members. The tribute states, "Carol and Gary’s love extended far beyond their immediate family. As Grandma and Grandpa, they brought warmth, laughter, guidance, and unconditional love to their grandchildren." Their surviving children, Caleb and Evan, are facing the challenge of arranging funerals and coping with the loss.
Police continue to search for Sangwin, who is believed to be on the loose in Toronto. The investigation is ongoing.
