Kraken Robotics Announces Major Defence Contracts Totaling $24 Million
ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland and Labrador – Kraken Robotics Inc., a leader in subsea technology, has revealed a significant milestone with approximately $24 million in new defence orders. These contracts span over 10 customers across five countries, marking a notable expansion in the company's global footprint. Among the clients are three new defence customers, underscoring Kraken's growing influence in the security sector.
Diverse Product Portfolio Drives Sales Growth
The orders encompass a range of Kraken's innovative products, including the SeaPower batteries, KATFISH towed synthetic aperture sonar (SAS), and Kraken SAS systems. Greg Reid, President and CEO of Kraken Robotics, highlighted the strength of SeaPower battery sales, noting that several new clients have further diversified the customer base. He also announced that manufacturing at the new Nova Scotia facility is set to commence within the next month, which will significantly boost production capacity.
"We are thrilled to share that we have sold a new KATFISH system to the Polish Navy for their minehunting program," Reid stated. "Additionally, our SAS technology has been selected by multiple defence customers for integration into autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) platforms, reinforcing our role in advancing underwater intelligence."
Strategic Partnerships and Historical Context
The Polish Navy, which first adopted KATFISH in 2020 for deployment on Kormoran II-class minehunting vessels, placed this latest order through Thesta, Kraken's authorized reseller in Poland. This partnership was solidified during the recent Oceanology International exhibition, enhancing Kraken's distribution network in Europe. The KATFISH system is designed to support mine countermeasure operations in complex shallow water environments, a critical capability for naval forces.
