Assailants launched several shooting attacks close to the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Sunday, June 7, 2026, killing at least one person and wounding five others, according to Israel's rescue services. The attacks occurred in multiple locations, raising initial concerns of coordinated assailants.

Details of the Attacks

Rescue services Magen David Adom reported receiving the first call about a shooting at a gas station near the town of Kokhav Yair, located on the Israeli side of the boundary with the West Bank, at around 10:30 a.m. Soon after, additional shooting incidents were reported in the towns of Tsur Natan, Tsur Yitzhak, and close to the Israeli settlement of Sal'it, which is situated inside the West Bank.

Israel's police confirmed they had killed one attacker. Large groups of Israeli soldiers conducted searches in the area, both on the ground and by air, for any other assailants. The police identified the attacker as a Palestinian citizen of Israel from the nearby Arab town of Taybeh.

Community Response

Residents in the affected areas were instructed to stay at home, and children were kept in lockdown at schools, according to the regional council head. Oshrit Gani Gonen, the regional council head for the area encompassing the towns where the shootings took place, told Israeli media: "Since Oct. 7, the scenario we were expecting was terrorist crossing into our towns from over the boundary. I don't think that anyone imagined that we would discover the attackers were Israeli citizens."

The incident has sparked concerns about security and the nature of threats from within Israeli society. Members of Israel's ZAKA search and rescue emergency services were seen inspecting a vehicle of a victim at the scene in Tzur Yitzhak.
