A mother duck and her brood of ducklings were successfully reunited after the babies fell into a storm sewer in downtown Saskatoon, according to a report from Carla Shynkaruk of CTV News.
Rescue operation in downtown Saskatoon
City crews responded to the scene after passersby noticed the ducklings trapped in the storm sewer. The rescue involved lifting the grate and carefully retrieving the ducklings one by one. All the ducklings were unharmed and quickly returned to their mother, who was waiting nearby.
The incident occurred near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 23rd Street East, a busy area in the city's core. Witnesses said the mother duck paced anxiously around the grate while the rescue was underway.
Successful reunion
Once all the ducklings were freed, the mother duck gathered them and led them away from the area. The rescue took approximately 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
"It was a heartwarming outcome," said a city spokesperson. "We're glad we could help reunite this family." The duck family was last seen heading toward the South Saskatchewan River.
