Alleged Horse Thief Karly Tripp Apprehended by Halton Police

Halton Regional Police have arrested a 30-year-old woman from Waterdown, Ontario, in connection with a series of crimes targeting the equine industry in Milton. Karly Tripp faces multiple charges, including theft, fraud, and criminal harassment, following two separate investigations.

Charges Stem from Equine-Related Incidents

According to authorities, Tripp was initially charged in April with theft over $5,000, fraudulently taking cattle, and injuring or endangering animals after a horse was stolen in Milton. Then, in May, she was arrested again and charged with criminal harassment and failure to comply with a probation order.

Police allege that Tripp used the alias "Hailey Wood" to arrange a meeting with a victim under false pretenses. She is also accused of contacting schools associated with the victim while impersonating her to obtain confidential information. The victim became suspicious and contacted law enforcement, leading to Tripp's identification and arrest.

Victims Unharmed but Suspected Serial Offenses

Investigators believe Tripp may be a serial offender. The accused and the victim were not known to each other, and no injuries or financial losses were reported in the harassment case. However, police suspect Tripp may have been involved in similar incidents across the Greater Toronto Area, and they are urging other potential victims to come forward.

Social Media Warnings and Harness Racing Links

Social media platforms have been abuzz with warnings about Tripp, who is described as a thief and con artist. One Facebook user cautioned horse owners and shippers about a woman using multiple aliases, including Karly Autumn, Stacy Tripp, and Tasha, who allegedly steals horses by claiming emergency shipping needs. Tripp appears to have ties to the harness racing industry.

None of the charges have been proven in court. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Halton police at 905-825-4777 ext. 2416 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
