We try dozens of beauty products each month. These were our testers’ three favourite launches this week:
Uriage Age Absolu Blur-Redensifying Eye Balm
They say: A “blurring” eye balm that targets collagen loss in the eye contour area. The smoothing product promises to restore density via collagen stimulation and boost the appearance of the eye area in just 10 seconds.
We say: Improvement in just seconds? You have our attention. Our tester, a woman in her late 60s, applied this balm to the entire eye contour area. With a velvety feeling on skin, she found it improved the appearance of under-eye bags and eyelid texture. “This is a really nice product to use and wear,” she reports. $60 | Uriage.ca
Clarins Wonder Define Long-Wear Brow Pencil
They say: A micro-thin brow pencil that allows you to sculpt, shape and define brows using the “nano tip” for natural-looking results. The pencil formula is sweat proof and waterproof for up to 24 hours.
We say: The ultrafine tip on these brow pencils makes creating hairlike strokes a breeze. The brand also released a new Wonder Sculpt Setting Serum Brow Tinted Gel ($39) to groom and set brows. Our tester applied this after filling in sparse areas of her brow and was pleased with how the gel left brows looking groomed but not gummy. $39 | Clarins.ca
Watier Age Control Supreme Sublime Advanced Day Cream SPF 30
They say: A day cream for the face from Canadian brand Watier that features a trio of powerhouse ingredients — Labrador Tea Extract, Canadian cranberries and Boreal Chaga mushroom — to address signs of aging on the skin. The day cream also boasts a sun protection factor of 30.
We say: Featuring a smooth, creamy consistency and a soft scent, our tester applied this product in place of her usual daytime moisturizer. Using the product for a few weeks, she found the cream left her skin feeling radiant and hydrated, without looking shiny. The sunscreen was a nice bonus, especially for those who prefer a one-and-done application during busy mornings. $122 | Watier.com
