Green Bay Packers star running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday and faces five charges related to domestic abuse, according to the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Hobart, Wisconsin.
Charges Filed
The charges include domestic battery, damage to property, disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. Jacobs reportedly turned himself in and was booked into Brown County Jail. The alleged incident occurred on Saturday night, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Legal Response
Attorneys for Jacobs issued a statement denying the allegations. “Josh vehemently denies the allegations and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course,” said lawyers David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac.
The Green Bay Packers declined to comment, with a spokesperson stating, “We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”
Impact on Team
Jacobs, 27, is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and the Packers' leading running back. Last season, he rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns, totaling 1,211 yards from scrimmage in 15 games. His arrest is a setback for the team, which oddsmakers consider a potential Super Bowl contender. The Packers face tough competition in the NFC North from rivals like the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions.
