The Servus Calgary Marathon concluded on Sunday, May 24, 2026, with a record-breaking weekend that saw over 20,000 participants, 1,600 volunteers, and widespread community support. The event raised more than $700,000 for over 100 charities, according to Calgary Marathon Society vice chair Meredith Conrod, who also ran the half-marathon.

Charity Impact

The Strong Like Sloane Foundation had the largest presence with 212 members wearing bright green shirts. Founded by Claire Masikewich in 2024 after her daughter Sloane was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, the foundation raises funds for pediatric cancer research. This year, they raised over $120,000 for the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, building on previous years' successes.

Other notable participants included Cindy Luterbach with her service dog Mallee, using an Alinker walking bike, and Sheldon Smith, who ran for Hull Services supporting youth mental health. The event also featured a moment of celebration as Mitch Walz took a selfie with Calgary Highlanders members cheering him on.

Conrod noted that the marathon continues to grow, reflecting a global trend in running events. The funds raised will support a wide range of charitable causes, making a significant impact in the community.
