A 37-year-old man who recently arrived in Vancouver from Ontario is in custody after allegedly assaulting a restaurant worker, causing a dislocated shoulder. The suspect, Victor Coscarella, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer.

Incident Details

On Tuesday at approximately 11:30 a.m., a witness called police to report a man yelling profanities in the Mount Pleasant area. When officers arrived, they observed the man throwing an object at a vehicle. As they attempted to arrest him, he fled but was quickly found hiding in nearby bushes and taken into custody.

Unprovoked Assault

Police later learned that the same suspect had allegedly assaulted a restaurant worker earlier, resulting in a dislocated shoulder. The description of the suspect matched the man in custody. Vancouver police Const. Megan Lui stated, "The suspect has recently arrived in Vancouver, and has been the subject of over five calls to police this week. The assault appears to have been unprovoked, and the motive is unknown at this time."

Charges and Custody

Victor Coscarella, originally from Ontario, faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing. The investigation is ongoing.
