Prince Albert police are investigating the death of a 2-month-old infant, authorities confirmed Tuesday. The investigation began after emergency services responded to a residence on the 200 block of 15th Street East on Monday evening.
Details of the Incident
Police were called to the home at approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 1, 2026, following a report of an unresponsive infant. Officers arrived to find the child in medical distress. Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the infant was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service has been notified and is assisting with the investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death. Police have not released the infant's name or gender, pending notification of next of kin.
No Charges Filed Yet
As of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been laid. Police say the investigation is in its early stages and that they are conducting interviews with family members and witnesses. The home has been secured as a crime scene, and forensic investigators are processing evidence.
