Recall of Over 1.2 Million Thermos Products
Health Canada is urging consumers to immediately stop using more than 1.2 million Thermos Stainless King Food Jars and Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles due to impact injury and laceration hazards. The recall affects products sold across Canada.
Details of the Hazard
The recalled products pose a risk of impact injury if the vacuum-insulated stainless steel container breaks or shatters upon being dropped, and the broken pieces can cause lacerations. Health Canada advises that consumers should not attempt to return the products to the store but should contact Thermos for a full refund.
How to Identify Affected Products
The recall includes Thermos Stainless King Food Jars and Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles with specific model numbers and date codes. Consumers are instructed to check the bottom of the product for the date code. A full list of affected models is available on the Health Canada website.
Health Canada's Urgent Warning
Health Canada stated, 'Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Thermos for instructions on how to receive a full refund.' The agency emphasized that the products should be kept out of reach of children and pets until properly disposed of or returned.
Number of Incidents Reported
As of the recall date, Thermos has received reports of 14 incidents in Canada involving the products breaking, including four reports of minor injuries. No serious injuries have been reported.
What Consumers Should Do
Consumers are urged to visit the Thermos recall website or call the toll-free number provided by Health Canada to obtain a prepaid shipping label and instructions for returning the product. Upon receipt, Thermos will issue a full refund.
