Costco Recalls Shampoo and Conditioner Sold in Ontario and Quebec Over Microbial Levels

Costco has issued a recall for a brand of shampoo and conditioner sold at its warehouses in Ontario and Quebec due to possible elevated microbial levels. The affected product is Renpure Tea Tree and Rosemary Scalp Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner, sold as a set of two 946ml bottles. The voluntary recall was initiated by Mav Beauty Canada Inc., the manufacturer.

According to Costco, the recall was prompted by concerns that the product may contain elevated microbial levels, which could cause mild skin irritation or sensitivity in some individuals. The company stated that no serious adverse reactions have been reported, but the recall is being conducted to ensure the highest quality and safety standards for members.

Customers who purchased the item (product number #8434044) between May 10, 2026, and May 12, 2026, are advised to check for affected lot codes 2603C065 and 2604C066. Those who have the recalled products should stop using them immediately. The shampoo and conditioner combo can be returned to any Costco warehouse for a full refund.

This recall is part of a series of recent product recalls by Costco. Last month, bed frames sold in Canada and the United States were recalled after reports of canopies collapsing and causing injuries. In March, a chocolate mousse product was recalled due to the possible presence of undeclared cashews and macadamia nuts, which could cause severe, life-threatening reactions for people with allergies.

Costco encourages members to stay informed about recalls and to follow safety guidelines to prevent any potential health risks.
